در زمانی که این قابلیت فعال می شود گوشی اندرویدی که به اینترنت  دسترسی ندارد با به اشتراک گذاری داده ها با دیگر گوشی ها و تبلت های متصل به اینترنت آنلاین می‌شود. بنابراین گوشی یا تبلت آفلاین هم در عمل به همین شیوه آنلاین می شود و از طریق دیگر ابزار متصل به اینترنت به حساب های کاربری گوگل متصل می شوند و البته استفاده از این خدمات با استفاده از فناوری بلوتوث بهبود می یابد.

استفاده از این خدمات بسیار ساده و مستلزم موافقت با سیاست کاربری است. پس از آن کاربر با اتصال به اینترنت در چنین شرایطی و تبدیل گوشی خود به hotspot سیار موافقت می کند. البته استفاده از این خدمات موجب استفاده بیشتر از شارژ باتری بوده و به قطع ارتباط کاربر با تمامی شبکه های بی سیم وای – فای منجر می شود.

خدمات فعلا به طور محدود در دسترس بوده و تنها کاربران گوشی های نکسوس و پیکسل می توانند از آن استفاده کنند. اما در آینده دسترسی به آن گسترش می یابد.
